It is not to late to celebrate the jubilee of Paurnfeindt's Fight book. According to Anglo (Martial Arts of Renaissance Europe, 2000), this is the first printed Fight Book, that is correct for the German tradition (Fight Book). However, a Wrestling Book was printed earlier (Landshuter Ringbuch) and Pietro Monte's Collectanea was printed in 1509.
Matthias Johannes Bauer, leading scholar on early printed Fight Books of the German tradition, contributed to celebrate the jubilee. He offered a facsimile earlier of the only known copy (kept in Glasgow).
In our last issue (4/2), he wrote a nice research note about his research on the illustration. This paper is about to appear on the journal webpage at DeGruyter Open Access. Since the year 2016 is coming to an end, we share here in advance the printed version of the paper (December 2016). Enjoy!
We wish you all a Merry Christmas! APD.
